Robyn Releases First Single in 8 Years (Plus 26 Other Songs to Know in August)

August 1, 2018

If the quality of this playlist is any indication of how this month is going to go, then it’s going to be a good one!

Subdued and sultry, most of the songs that make up August’s new music selection don’t really fall into the sound of a typical summer month—but that’s ok, because this is one of my favorite playlists in a long time.

Before I get into everything else, I must acknowledge one very important tidbit of musical information: Robyn just released (as in an hour ago) her first single in eight years! Titled “Missing U,” fans of the Swedish electropop legend will be delighted to know nothing (as far as her sound is concerned) has changed since 2010’s Body Talk Pt. 2.

Now that I’ve got out of the way, the rest of the playlist is comprised of mostly moody melodies that may not kick up your dance party, but will certainly evoke emotion. Sizzy Rocket‘s “High,” Allie X‘s “Focus” and Cannons‘ “Round and Round” are pure beauties, as are Transviolet‘s “Undo” and Eli & Fur‘s “Something Is Real.”

If indeed you need a little pick-me-up, scroll down the list for Dillon Francis‘ “Never Let You Go,” Cosmo’s Midnight‘s “Polarised” and ARIZONA‘s “Freaking Out.”

Bag Raiders, Stephen Bradley, Paul Wall & More: New Music Monday!

July 27, 2015

bag_raiders_waterfalls_skyelyfeThis may very well be my favorite New Music Monday! Maybe it’s something about being in the thick of summer, but there’s so much good stuff in the mix lately.

Bag Raiders will have you ready for a dance party with “Waterfalls,” No Doubt‘s Stephen Bradley‘s electro-soul jam “Feel the Music” will have you craving a pina colada poolside in the sun, and Paul Wall brings his signature Houston hip-hop sound with “Swangin in the Rain.”

I’ve recently gotten into Canadian producer Tep No, who I listed on an NMM playlist last month. He has another lovely little jam, “Under Rage.” I also recently found Jahkoy, who has me listening to “Still in Love” on repeat. And can we discuss Skylar Spence? He totally stole my hopeful DJ alias (Skye Spence) right from underneath me. But (semi) jokes aside, he has a really fun ’80s dance sound, so check out “Affairs.” And Nervo and Kylie Minogue‘s “The Other Boys” is every bit of dance-pop bliss that you’d expect.

Seriously, all 17 songs on the playlist – which also includes Anna Lunoe, Cosmo’s Midnight, Mighty Mouse and Luna – are worth hearing. Enjoy!

Chris Brown, Madeon, Twin Shadow, Cherub & More: New Music Monday 12.15.14

December 15, 2014

Pitbull-ft-Chris-Brown-funFrom Pitbull featuring Chris Brown, to Madeon, Cherub and many more, this week’s New Music Monday is the best in a while!

Pitbull’s new track “Fun” off his just-released album Globalization is every bit its title. With its tropical-sounding melody, the high-energy hip-hop song has been on repeat ever since it reached my ears a week ago. What really makes the song, though, is Chris Brown’s vocals, because as much as I hate to admit it – anything he touches turns to gold!

I am also especially loving FIXYN‘s new remix of Tove Lo‘s “Habits (Stay High).” I think it flows so much better than the original, so including it in this list was a must!

Another pretty track I am totally feeling right now is “Snare” by Cosmo’s Midnight.

Give a listen to playlist below for nine new tracks, which also include Twin Shadow, Cherub and Salt Ashes:
