Valfré Just Launched a Cosmetics Line—And I Tried It First!

June 25, 2019

Valfré has been known since 2013 for its trendy, bold, affordable (nothing’s over $98) clothing and accessories designed by Mexican-born artist, Ilse Valfré.

But as of last Friday, fans of the company will get to explore the brand at a whole new capacity. Valfré just made its foray into makeup, with the launch of its very first set of eyeshadows, a 10-color collection of bold shades, called the Electric Garden Eye Palette. Consisting of mainly purples, blues and coppers, the colors reflect those of what you’d see in a bouquet of flowers.

(via Valfré)

(via Valfré)

I was lucky enough to receive an invite to the product’s launch party at a pop-up in L.A. (one day before it became available to the public), where a bunch of colorfully decorated guests danced to music from various decades, took pics in the photo booth, tried on makeup at one of the several beauty stands and sipped on Bev rosé.

In advance of the launch, I received a sample palette before it was made available to the public. I was sure to do a full face of makeup (as seen below) before my night out. I’m beyond impressed with the boldness and blendability of the shades, along with their longevity, as I made it through a full night of a fresh-faced look.

The palette of shades—each named after various flowers—is available on Valfré’s website for $38.

PHOTOS: Tabanero and Fireball Host Hottest (Really!) Party in Hollywood!

It was National Hot Sauce Day, and not a taste bud was left untouched among the guests at Tabanero and Fireball‘s spicy Hollywood soirée at Le Jardin to honor the occasion!

Fire dancers twirled their flamed hoops, guests took Fireball shots out of ice sculptures in between noshing on some of the hottest peppers and sauces in existence (you had to sign a waiver to try them – that’s how spicy they were!), and Burger Lounge served up their finest jalapeño-accompanied beef bites.

Following the bash, VIP guests walked out with the ultimate gift bag full of Tabanero sauces, Fireball shots and glasses, Poke Bar and Burger Lounge gift cards and flaming popcorn and chocolate bars.

There will be no lack of spice in my 2016 – that’s for sure!

There’s really nothing that can keep me from a night spent sipping cocktails on the rooftop of my favorite hotel The London West Hollywood. But an added bonus? A Gilt City and La Marca Prosecco-hosted affair.

Last week brought out Gilt City members, press and tastemakers to nosh on delicious bites and sip on a specialty cocktail by guest mixologist Cari Hah (scroll to the bottom for the fabulous recipe). Guests were able to check out the latest Gilt City fall trends and speak to style and beauty experts. They also got to pose in an interactive runway-style photo booth while taking in the tunes of DJ Lindsay Luv.

And no party is complete without a little memento for the road. Other attendees and I left the scenic rooftop with a La Marca-branded mini-cosmetics bag filled with lip balm, Malin+Goetz body scrub and other little goodies.

Emmy Awards 2015: From Beauty Treatments to Bashes, Here’s How L.A. Prepped for TV’s Biggest Night!

September 19, 2015

The middle of September is a busy time in Tinseltown!

With the Emmy Awards on Sept. 20, TVs biggest stars started getting into high gear days before for their most important night.

But awards shows prove to be exciting for more than just celebrities. Tastemakers, bloggers and other media bask in the fun of the gifting suites and lavish parties that lead up to these big nights.

As I pointed out during the time of the Golden Globes, Audi hosts two top-tier fetes at Cecconi’s in West Hollywood each year, including one for the Emmys. This year’s bash brought out a slew of stars, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Cat Deeley, Joel McHale, Tony Goldwyn, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ashley Madekwe, Kat Graham and Karina Smirnoff.

Earlier in the week, L.A. Confidential hosted Pretty for the Party, an Emmys-week beauty suite at Sofitel Los Angeles‘ Riviera 31.

Guests sipped on specialty Midori cocktails and KeVita health drinks, while making their way through treatment after treatment.

Attendees (mostly women) like myself received massages, manicures by Jessica nails and hair stylings by my favorite folks at Sally Hershberger salon. Guests also left with complimentary nail polish, hair products, skincare products and Yoke holistic fragrances.

Sole Society: Online Shoe Retailer Opens Doors to First Brick-and-Mortar Boutique with V.I.P. Celebration!

Sole Society took a huge step in the right direction!

The affordable, on-trend shoe and accessory brand, which launched in 2011, has branched out of just an online presence and launched its debut brick-and-mortar shop at Santa Monica Place, taking over SwimSpot’s space on the second floor.

Stocked with scarves, handbags, clutches, jewelry – and of course – their extensive signature footwear, the chic boutique is complete with fall-ready colors and styles.

The store opened its doors to the public yesterday, but hosted a V.I.P. preview event just one evening prior, featuring tray-passed bites, along with sounds by DJ Michelle Pesce.

Guests invited to the champagne-filled fete were asked to select the shoe of their choice from the website beforehand, and they were personally delivered in time to wear to the party. I opted for these beauties in black, while my good friend Sydne Summer (pictured) of the blog Sydne Style dressed up her denim look with strappy magenta heels.

The showering of goodies didn’t end there. Upon entry, guests received hand-painted, personalized clutches (mine has a dainty high heel on the front with my initials on the back), and we were sent on our way with adorably patterned scarves!

In case you missed Monday night’s grand affair, the celebratory festivities are extending to the public through all of this weekend, with music, refreshments, sweet treats and exclusive giveaways during store hours.

If you’re bound to the bubble of West Hollywood like me, you’ll find that this in one shop that makes the trek to Santa Monica worthwhile!

San Francisco-Based BloomThat Blossomed in L.A. with Flower-Filled Mimosa Brunch at Goldie’s

June 23, 2015

bloomthat-goldies-skyelyfe“Blooms, brunch + besties” was the tagline for BloomThat‘s event at Goldie’s in L.A. last week, and it was the ultimate feminine affair.

I brought my good friend Natalie along with me, and we were greeted with mini mimosas topped with varying edible flowers. After we grabbed our beverages, we made our way to the food table, where we piled mini french toast triangles, kale salad and avocado toast bites onto our plates, before sitting down at our flower-filled table. Following our meal, we were able to create our very own personalized bouquets, with options ranging from basil and mint, to roses, sunflowers, lilacs, you name it!

bloomthat-mimosas-skyelyfeThe objective of the brunch was to spread the word to Angelenos about the San Francisco-based flower delivery service. BloomThat’s online operation offers day-of delivery with a plethora of colorful options right here in Southern California.

When we departed the adorable dining experience, we not only walked away with our self-made bouquets, but we were also gifted an additional bouquet of beautiful yellow flowers, a perfect summer centerpiece to brighten up my living room!

Ladies! Tanya Heath’s Simple New Shoe Concept Will Have You Clicking Your Heels – Literally!

Tanya Heath Paris opened its first U.S. boutique on Friday, and the upscale women’s shoe line isn’t just another brand of expensive footwear.

The Tanya Heath concept – a seemingly simple one that involves interchangeable heels – isn’t one that has existed prior. So, when I entered its Robertson Blvd. grand opening celebration, I began scratching my head in awe of not only how colorful the store merchandise is, but also how this idea hasn’t already been done!

Complete with a slew of varying shapes, heights and materials of heels, this little Los Angeles shop toasted its big debut with champagne and a never-ending supply of tray passed gourmet Vietnamese bites from The District by Hannah An.

Owned by Pame Schmider, the store also sells a large selection of actual shoes to mix and match with the heels. Inside the sole of the shoes, there is a little button you click to attach and detach the heels. And voila! One pair of shoes, several different looks!

Thursday night was a who’s who of industry elite and tastemakers at the grand opening of EveryDay Life (EDL)’s modern organic Mexican restaurant and lounge, Toca Madera in L.A.

Taking over what was formerly St. Nick’s Pub, the 8450 W. 3rd St. space has been transformed into an upscale, dim-lit, Dia de los Muertos-themed eatery owned by Tosh Berman and Amrou Manaseer.

Guests at the packed event (including Jhene Aiko, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Ed Westwick, Michael B. Jordan, Emanuelle Chriqui, Cheryl Burke and a very casually clad Ryan Phillippe with girlfriend Paulina Slagter) sipped on red wine and margaritas, while noshing on signature appetizers from the main and vegan menus cooked up by Executive Chef Raymond Alvarez (I highly recommend the mixed mushroom and sweet corn tacos and churro ice cream sandwich!)

Complete with characters roaming around on stilts, women covered in body paint and tunes spun by Ruexx, the evening certainly did not go without entertainment!

Some of the most style-savvy ladies in Los Angeles took in a beautiful view of West Hollywood last night from the rooftop of the chic Palihouse hotel, to toast the launch of Yam Bonpoint‘s spring/summer 2015 collection and its arrival to a Beverly Hills boutique by way of Paris. Hosted by Disney darling Peyton List, guests (which also included Peyton’s brother Spencer and The Goldbergs‘ Hayley Orrantia) at the soiree took in the perfect selection of tunes spun by DJ Alex Merrell, while hopping in the tropical-themed photo booth and getting airbrushed tattoos. And, of course, guests of age clinked celebratory glasses of champagne and wine.

An additional cheers goes out to Priscila Martinez and Lauren Camp, co-founders of new public relations team The Brand House. This event was one of the first for the PR veterans since going on their own. Combined with production by Jessica Fels and Bonpoint, this was a job well done, ladies!

Audi Kicks Off Golden Globes Weekend with Annual Star-Studded Soiree in West Hollywood

January 9, 2015

AUDIdrinkmenuAudi‘s annual pre-Golden Globes bash is the first event of awards season that gets everyone under one roof. From celebrities, to publicists, agents, journalists and various tastemakers, the top-tier shindig, which hosts hundreds of guests, is literally a who’s-who of Hollywood (and some of New York). It’s Tinseltown’s one last night to relax before the madness of awards season kicks in, beginning on Sunday.

Held at West Hollywood’s trendy Cecconi’s eatery last night, the hotly anticipated event (which also takes place right before the Emmys months prior) served guests endless pours of wine and signature cocktails, along with tray-passed bites, including the restaurants specialty pizzas.

Jessica Chastain, Liev Schreiber (attached at the hip to his other half Naomi Watts), Kate Walsh and Matt McGorry were just a few of the many celebrities who made their way to the star-studded soiree – which transported big name guests to and from in A8 L TDI vehicles, Audi’s fuel-efficient flagship sedan.

It’s always a blast catching up with old friends and colleagues at this party. I was one of the first people to arrive and one of the last to leave. With incredible tunes spun by regular event DJ Michelle Pesce, I couldn’t bring myself to exit the shindig until security cleared my guest and me out (in the most polite manner possible, of course)!

West Hollywood Made Latest Stylish Statement with Grand Opening of Nasty Gal, Wildfox and More

November 25, 2014

From Melrose to Sunset, the streets of West Hollywood were bustling with many of the town’s top trendsetters on Thurs., Oct 20. With Kelly Osbourne at Alice + Olivia‘s La Cienega store opening dinner celebration and Charlize Theron and Dylan Penn at the grand opening of Nasty Gal‘s flagship retail store on Melrose, there was no shortage of excitement during this otherwise relatively quiet time of year in L.A.

I was on hand for some of the activity, which kicked off with a stop at Nasty Gal, where the popular online retailer feted the launch of its first real store, a bright-lit, spacious, 2,500-square foot boutique on Melrose, right by Red O. Guests sipped champagne while browsing through the shop’s array of pricey new and vintage clothing and accessories.

Next, it was off to the Wildfox flagship store at Sunset Plaza, where the vintage-inspired feminine retailer, which just opened its doors, held its #BarbieLovesWildfox soiree. The multitiered boutique was an all-pink paradise for the Barbie Girl in each of its guests, including Kendall Jenner. Champagne was served upstairs as partygoers received manicures with funky decals and browsed the slew of girlie knitwear, pajamas and other cute pieces that are part of the line’s Resort 2014 collaboration.

The stairs at the shop led to an adorable outdoor area, complete with a DJ, festive pink balloons, a bar and – yes – even a sparkly fashion truck where guests could pick out an accessory, ranging from flowered to light-up headbands and retro-style sunglasses (I opted for a pair of the shades).

The night needed a little kick of European culture, so before heading to the next event, my friend and I took a little (or should I say big) dinner break at Petit Trois, where we pretty much gave all of the items on the decadent French menu a try (what can I say? We were hungry!). After stuffing ourselves, we headed slightly east to the Hollywood Athletic Club, where fashion took on a different form from where I’d been earlier in the night. The venue hosted The Schlitz Bouts, an event that incorporated boxing, style and entertainment, with a 1920s theme. Cigar-rolling, boxing card stamping, classic jazz and oysters were all parts of the evening, as guests sported their snazziest ensembles of decades past.

Southern California Life Magazine Launches Debut Issue with Hollywood Celebration

November 20, 2014

socallifemag3I spy a familiar face!

Oh, the joys of spotting none other than Kelly Taylor Jennie Garth on the cover of Southern California Life magazine’s debut issue! This is just one of the many things that excited me about the brand new publication’s kick-off.

The mag launched its website a couple of months ago – in fact, I wrote a story for it in October about new Beverly Hills eatery Ocean Prime – and I’ve been loving how it overlaps in many ways with the theme of skyelyfe.

To see the whole thing come together in print was great, as its first issue covers many topics of personal interest (aside from just Jennie’s new lease on life). In particular, I enjoyed reading about Sunset Marquis‘ facelift and winter beauty essentials.

Last week, the glossy – which was co-created by my former People colleague and personal friend Michele Stuevencelebrated its launch with an early-evening gathering that went well into the night at Aventine trattoria in Hollywood. At the fete, which took over the entire bar section, guests noshed on pizza slices, risotto balls and beef skewers, while sipping on an endless supply of red wine provided by Alpha Omega Winery. It was also nice catching up with one of my other former co-workers Monica Rizzo, as well as some publicists I hadn’t seen in a bit.

socallifemag2

Cheers to you, Michele! And folks, be sure to swoop up the mag’s next issue for my feature on The Taste‘s Chef Ludo.

Goldroom & Zella Day Help Lincoln Motor Launch Their Black Label Program with Chic Soiree in the Hollywood Hills

November 19, 2014

I am typically in no mood to get dolled up for an event on a Monday night, but when I heard Goldroom was spinning and Zella Day was performing at Lincoln Motor‘s Black Label launch party co-hosted by Conde Nast, how could I resist?

Well, it was totally worth it. Not only was the music throughout the night obviously on point, but the classy crowd of slightly older folks than I’m used to seeing at these shindigs, along with the chic, but not overly ostentatious Hollywood Hills home where the event took place, just created a calming aura I thoroughly enjoyed being in the midst of.

Lincoln8

Upon arriving at the event check-in, guests hopped in Lincoln SUV shuttles regularly going back and forth between the initial spot and the actual residence of the party. When I hopped out of my vehicle, Goldroom was spinning his hit “Fifteen,” and I knew the night was off to a good start.

Before I get to the rest of the fete, let me give a quick rundown of what exactly we were celebrating here.

“The Black Label program will be available on the MKC crossover and the MKZ sedan for $5,995 on top of the purchase price,” Autoblog explains of the luxury motor company’s new plan. “It includes custom design themes – with colors and materials only available through Black Label – plus free routine service and car washes for four years or 50,000 miles. It will be offered through dealerships in California, Michigan, Texas, New York, New Jersey and Florida.”

When I entered the party, there was tray pass after tray pass of everything from Parmesan-topped risotto, to mac-n-cheese topped with short-rib. The small bites – provided by Along Came Mary catering – just kept on coming. The kitchen table was filled was plates of various cheeses, crackers, nuts, chocolate, you name it. Good thing I came hungry! The event had two bars featuring chardonnay and a specialty gin cocktail.

Lincoln7

Lincoln1

Lincoln3

It was refreshing not to see too many familiar faces and just being able to roam around the party, taking in the beautiful view and checking out the lavish bedrooms upstairs. Meanwhile, massage therapist Paul Metra of the Fairmont Miramar Hotel‘s Exhale spa was walking around with towels and lotion and giving hand massages to guests.

Lincoln6

When Goldroom took a DJ break, Zella Day took on a high-energy, several-song performance with her band on a stage, which was raised only slightly above the pool (I was nervous just watching!).

Lincoln2

As much as I was enjoying myself, as 11p.m. neared, I had to remind myself it was indeed a Monday and it was time to hop in a Lincoln and head on home.

FITfluence: A Fitness Convention Fit for Royalty!

November 18, 2014

It doesn’t matter how active you are or how up you are on your fitness knowledge – FITfluence was a major must for anyone who lives a moderately healthy lifestyle. I had so much fun. It was located at the YouTube space in the Marina del Rey area, and although it was way outside of my typical L.A. travel parameters, it was neat to check it out since I’d never been before.

I picked up all kinds of cool products (more on those in a bit), I met so many great new people, I sat in on an intimate panel with top-tier fitness bloggers and learned all these nifty strategies to building my brand and, most importantly, I ate so many delicious healthy vegan bites from Beyond Meat and Locali. I steer clear from soy, but I will admit this “chicken salad” Beyond Meat served up on mini-crackers was the closest tasting thing to actual chicken that I’d ever tried of the impostors. Locali then had four different salads just packed with avocados, quinoa and other amazingly appetizing delights. They had all these scrumptious lite dressings, too!

And then there were of course the liquids. Clover juice and KeVita sparkling probiotic drink were both on hand to provide samples of their latest creations, so when guests wanted to switch from sipping cocktails from one of the two bars at the event, they could quench their thirst with something a bit healthier.

fitfluence1

Now onto the goodies!

If you know me in the slightest, you know I have no luck with phones. I used to lose them, now I just break them. The employees at uBreakiFix literlly know me by name and give me $20 off because they feel so bad. So it was a lovely surprise to encounter Exofab, a stick-on case that comes in all kinds of cool colors. It’s light and non-intrusive and its material somehow can set on mirrors and refrigerators, so for selfie satisfaction, they come in handy.

On top of that fun little gadget, I scored my first pair of Teeki yoga leggings. They’re so cute and funky. I also swooped a gold, heart-covered overnight bag from LeSportsac. They had a slew of cute designs up for grabs, so I kept going back and forth with my selection choice. Then I got these neon non-lace laces, called Hickies, for my workout shoes. They’re plastic, and once they’re in your shoes, you never have to tie them again! Tarte was also on hand for makeup touchups and to hand out bronzer for guests to keep. I had been at the event from the time it started, so when I finally made it over to Tarte, it was totally time for a little polishing.

On top of all that, we walked out of the event with a Fabletics gym bag stocked full of divine treats, ranging from Neutrogena products to Jenna Hipp‘s top and base coat nail collection.

I’m not just saying this because one of my dear friends Jamie Stone of HonestlyJamie.com happened to co-coordinate the experience, but it really was the best event I’ve been to in a long time. Well done, Stonesi!

Three Completely Different Events – One Incredible Evening! From Santa Monica to East Hollywood, L.A. Had One Very Thirsty Thursday!

November 12, 2014

Hmm, maybe I’m still in recovery mode, which is why it has taken me almost a week to write about last Thursday. But nevertheless, I guess it was worth the wait, because for one of the first nights in a while, I made it to everything I wanted to go to – and all across town – and each was worth attending.

That said, I think I definitely need to acknowledge all three events on Oct. 6:

10 Years, 10 Cheers! – Obica Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina Celebrated a Decade In Existence with Wine and Food Galore!

An Italian restaurant anniversary celebration probably isn’t the best place to start a night out. So much food, so much wine – how is a person expected to make it through the rest of the evening? Well, I managed … barely. Either way, I did have a blast at Obica Mozzarella Bar Pizza e Cucina. Located in Century City’s Westfield shopping area, you really don’t get that mall vibe at the intimate eatery. On this particular night, my guests and I had the luxury of noshing on everything from risotto gamberi e asparagi (shrimp, asparagus and Prosecco risotto) to freshly made burrata. I typically steer clear from dairy products, but at an Italian restaurant, you kind of have to indulge, right? In-between bites and seemingly endless wine sips, I enjoyed sitting on the restaurant’s patio, taking in the sexy electric guitar sounds of Patrick Abbatte. In honor of the spot’s monumental occasion, they launched a whole new menu, which I can’t wait to check out more closely on my next visit!

ASOS’ Colour Control Event Was the Stylish Spot of the Night!

Anna Lunoe and ASOS brought music together with fashion at the next stop of the outing. No, the trek from Century City all the way to Mack Sennett Studios past East Hollywood wasn’t short, but it was absolutely worth it, when upon entry, I immediately spotted two of my favorite musical performers, Zoe and Adam from ASTR. As delightful in person as their music, it was quite the joyous run-in. And speaking of musical performers, I was beyond stoked to find that Anna Lunoe, of all people, was one of the DJs at this event. I did not know this beforehand, so it was a pleasant surprise. She is one of my favs! The gathering was in celebration of the launch of ASOS’ Colour Control, an interactive music video, featuring a visual presentation of five shades full of AW14 endless looks. Guests had a blast in the photo booth, mixing and matching colors and styles on the screen while sipping on vodka cocktails.

Mercedes Benz Evolution Tour Took Over Barker Hangar Airport

Whew, from Mack Sennett Studios all the way back to the westside – but this time much farther than Century City. The Mercedes Benz Evolution Tour took over Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar airport, and it definitely made use of the space. The place was totally packed with not only general eventgoers, but also a handful of musical performers and celebrities: Julianne Hough, Michael B. Jordan, Ricki Lake, Alabama Shakes, Young the Giant and DJ Ruckus. The indoor area was filled with music performances and the latest Mercedes models on full display. But I must say, the highlight for me, personally, was the slew of food options. We only caught the tail end of the event, which meant no more booze, but plenty to eat – which at this point in the evening, this was a huge plus. Inside you had buckets (literally) stacked and stacked with Popchips and Kind bars of all different flavors. Then outside you had a slew of food trucks and even a Keurig coffee stand. Amen!

From Yellowtail Sunset’s Opening, to FabFitFun’s Fall Launch Event, Here Are 5 Hip October Happenings That Didn’t Involve the Lead-Up to Halloween

October 30, 2014

It’s hard to believe Halloween is already here! With everything that goes on leading up to one of (almost) everyone’s favorite holidays, it can be easy to forget that other things do happen during October that don’t involve costumes or pumpkins. That’s why right before the big day, I am taking a moment to acknowledge some entertaining experiences I had the pleasure of taking in part in that weren’t in anticipation of Oct. 31.

Zico Chilled Juices’ Bangin’ Body Bootcamp

Don’t you want to know how Jessica Alba maintains her stellar physique? Well, with just a little help from her trainer Jennifer “JJ Dancer” Johnson. And if anyone experienced firsthand just how hard JJ works the starlet, I did this month. I had the exciting opportunity to attend an intimate training session on the rooftop of the Montalban in Hollywood, where I was treated to sounds by a live DJ, and I spent an hour sweating and booty-shaking before a relaxing post-workout morning that included Zico-filled shakes and complimentary manis and massages.

Here’s a little sampling of what I got to sip on after my workout (create it yourself!):

ZICO Top of the Morning

1/2 cup Zico chilled coconut water

1 banana, frozen, peeled

2 dates, pits removed

3 Tbs almond butter

1 tsp. cacao

1/4 cup ice

1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon (opt.)

Combine ingredients in blender on high speed for 45 seconds or until completely smooth

Enjoy!

When I showed up to FabFitFun’s fall launch party at The Library inside of the Redbury hotel, I expected a handful of health and fitness bloggers to be standing around, sipping on juices and discussing their workout routines. To my surprise, the event’s bar was sponsored by Svedka vodka, and inside there was wine provided by Chloe. That in itself already set the tone for a fun outing. The place was filled with table after table of fun vendors with unique health products and snacks – and services, including makeup touch-ups by Blushington and manis by Nail Garden. From Skintimate shaving gel to FitFusion gift cards, there was no shortage of goodies in my VIP product bag that were for the fab, fit, and (obviously) fun.

Yellowtail Sunset Finally Opened!

I don’t remember most of my experiences in Vegas (I mean, who does?), but one of the few things I recall is the way Yellowtail’s Big Eye Tuna pizza (tuna with truffle oil) from the Bellagio hotel tasted when it touched my taste buds for the first time two years ago. The thought of having executive chef Akira Back’s mouthwatering dish a mere .5 miles away from me at its new West Hollywood location on Sunset Blvd. is just thrilling. I attended the VIP opening of the sexy, dim-lit Japanese eatery last week, and – for lack of eloquent wording – I stuffed my face with sushi and sashimi galore, while sipping on endless glasses of red wine.

Vegas Meets L.A. with a Night Featuring Sin City Performer Matt Goss

Speaking of Vegas, the Sin City vibe was most definitely in the air this month, as just nights before the Yellowtail opening, I took in an extravagant performance by Caesars Palace headliner Matt Goss  (he performed a few of his own hits, along with classics including, “Luck Be a Lady,” “Hotel California” and “Lovely Las Vegas”) at the W Hollywood, where guests were treated to a fashion show and a casino-like experience that benefitted the Both Ends Burning charity. Complete with roulette and shuffleboard tables, the Sinatra-sounding star’s production brought a taste of Vegas to LA for the night.

Restoration Hardware’s Melrose Gallery Opening

I’m not sure what was more impressive about West Hollywood’s new Restoration Hardware launch: the beautiful, multitiered layout, or the hundreds and hundreds of guests it drew to the location at its grand opening event! This was one of the most packed gatherings I’d been to in a while. I literally almost got lost in the spacious establishment, in between munching on bites from Bouchon and sipping on beverages from the bellini bar. This upscale home furnishings fantasyland is a must-see, regardless of whether for an extravagant event or for just a bit of browsing.

Here’s Why Charlotte Tilbury’s New Nordstrom Makeup Line Should Already Be on Your Holiday Wishlist!

October 16, 2014

**post co-written by Jackie Gonzalez

Last week, we had the pleasure of attending Make-Up Your Destiny, which celebrated the USA launch of world-renowned celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s coveted makeup line. Set up in the courtyard of The Grove in Los Angeles and co-hosted with Nordstrom, the circus-inspired beauty festival was one-of-a-kind, put together by incredibly talented set designer Michael Howells.

The magical night included circus performances, skincare tips, tunes and makeup touchups. We sipped on champagne, noshed on pub fare, and learned a few of Charlotte’s tips & tricks.

Sure, the extravagant affair – which was graced by everyone from Lily Allen and Cat Deeley, to Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner – was enough to feed our curiosity, but after actually seeing and trying the line, we realized its products are a must on our holiday wish lists (and they should be on yours, too!).

It was a luxury to try many of the products at the event, but being treated to a lavish VIP gift bag when we left was icing on the cake! We seriously can’t get enough of Charlotte’s Magic Cream, Full Fat Lashes Mascara, lip lacquer in Love Bite and Supermodel Body Slimmer Shimmer. The magic cream is indeed as miraculous as its description. A few tiny little dabs and our faces feel soft as a baby’s. Additionally, the mascara gives a whole new meaning to luscious lashes!

To top it all off, the packaging of all of Charlotte’s products is totally chic and the colors of the line are feminine and fabulous!

PRIV: LA’s Premier Pampering App Brings Services to Your Doorstep

September 17, 2014

Remember the good ol’ days when showing up in a Town Car somewhere made you feel really, really important? Well, then Uber came along and gave that VIP feeling to anyone with a credit card.

Similarly, I remember attending one of my first ever gifting suites and receiving a gift card for a (gasp) complimentary at-home spray tan from Sevin Nyne. I mean, only celebs received such glamorous at-home services, right? Well, now, like as in the case with Uber, just a simple cell phone app tap and valid credit card will have you receiving star-like perks.

As of Sept. 18, L.A.’s first full-service on-demand beauty and wellness application was made available to the masses. Everything from vetted personal trainers to masseuses, hairstylists, manicurists and spray-tanning specialists can show up at your doorstep with the click of a button on PRIV, an app (short for PRIVileged) founded by Joseph Terzi and Morris Sutton. Like with Uber, available service providers pop up on a screen with their current rating out of five stars, along with how many minutes should be expected until their arrival.

I was on hand last week to help celebrate the launch of this innovative product at the ultra chic Petit Ermitage hotel in West Hollywood. Before I got to the event, my close friend (and hairstylist) Erick Orellana gave me a glamorous updo from his apartment, and then I was off to the party. Once I arrived, I met up with a bunch of friends and I was fed with an array of healthy bites catered by the hotel. Guests at the fete were also treated to complimentary manis and Priv-logoed nic-nacs, including fans (it was unbelievably hot outside) and iPhone cases. In between trips to the open bar, people crowded the massive candy station, which was purple-themed to match the shade of the brand’s logo. M&Ms, saltwater taffy and lollipops were available in great quantities for guests to scoop into baggies.

Upon exiting the event, partygoers were given gift bags with additional logoed memorabilia, along with a gift card for $20 off a Priv service. Sans the overbearing heat, this was a night nicely done.

Will you try out this app?
