Beat the Winter Blues With 24 New Tunes by Kim Petras, Le Youth and More

January 4, 2019

The Christmas lights have come down, the new year’s resolutions have likely already been broken. We’re now in the thick of winter, folks—with nothing groundbreaking on the immediate horizon (unless, of course, you’re nominated for a Grammy).

Grammy or not, we luckily all have music to turn to—and while this exact time isn’t exactly known for bringing us the bangers, I’ve managed to dig up some songs worth listening to while we wait for things to pick up again.

Scroll through the playlist below for 24 new tracks by Cheat Codes, Kim Petras, Le Youth, Years & Years, Touch Sensitive, NERO, Tycho and more:

Elohim & Gryffin Bring Dance Party Vibes to Packed Crowd at El Rey Theatre

May 10, 2016

Gryffin-el-rey-skyelyfe-2There wasn’t a stationery body in the building on Saturday night, as electronic artists Elohim and Gryffin respectively took the stage at L.A.’s El Rey Theatre to a jam-packed crowd.

Elohim – celebrating the upcoming May 20 release of her self-titled debut EP, along with the recent release of her new single “Sensations,” which I featured on yesterday’s New Music Monday playlist – brought not only her melodic, synth-pop sound, but hit the stage in her signature oversized white coat. The Israeli beauty played a live set of a handful of her catchy tracks, including “She Talks Too Much,” “Xanax” and “Bridge and the Wall,” with colorful videos as a backdrop. Show-goers (myself included) were loving every minute, as this was the perfect lead-up to Gryffin’s set, which went until midnight.

Gryffin had no problem keeping the dance party going, closing out the evening with his high-energy, melodic remixes of a slew of popular songs, including “Desire” and “King” by Years & Years, “Youth” by Troye Sivan, “The Middle,” by DJ Snake and “Roses” by The Chainsmokers. As part of his Coming Home tour, the DJ actively went back and forth between the drums, the electric guitar and other instruments during his set to give the head-bobbing crowd a captivating performance!

Years & Years, The Bird and the Bee, Little Boots & More: New Music Monday!

July 13, 2015

Years&YearsWhat’s helping me get through today’s post-birthday weekend recovery are the beautiful new tracks I have lined up as part of this week’s New Music Monday!

I just really needed a solid selection of mellow songs to ease me through my day, and thanks to The Bird and the Bee, Little Boots, Lanks, Stryv, Years & Years, Noosa and Maor Levi, the goal was achieved!

And in case I’m feeling a little more energized later, there’s also an upbeat selection in the playlist, including dubstep by one of my favorite artists Bassnectar, some hip-hop by Lil Wayne and Charlie Puth, pop by Demi Lovato and Bonnie McKee, and melodic EDM by Sultan + Shepard.

Enjoy the list of 19 songs below!:

Me & My Toothbrush, Tyga, Robyn & 14 More Artists: New Music Monday!

June 29, 2015

Me&MyToothbrushLike me, I’m sure many of you spent the weekend celebrating marriage equality! Well, just because it’s now Monday doesn’t mean the rejoicing needs to cease. I have 17 new tracks that are sure to get your week off to the right start! And we do have a holiday weekend ahead of us!

I have a pretty diverse selection of songs this week. For starters, I’ve got “A New Game,” which is an upbeat disco club track by Me & My Toothbrush. I can’t get enough of their music. It’s so my style.

Also in the dance category, Maduk and Nymfo bring you some melodic drum n bass with “Africa,” and NGHTMRE‘s remix of Tep No‘s “It’s Alright” is a track not to be missed! Speaking of Tep No, I’ve also included EZY Lima mix of his song “Pacing.” And Robyn fans, our favorite Swedish pop star puts her rapping skills on full display with “Love Is Free.”

Speaking of rap, remember Khia (from 2002’s “My Neck My Back” fame)? Well, I’ve included her latest sexually explicit release: “Yum Yum Sauce.” Tyga just released his latest album The Gold Album: 18t, so I’ve included the melodic “Down for a Min.” And Goodbye Tomorrow‘s bass-heavy “Pray 2 God” has been on constant replay.

Click the playlist below for this week’s New Music Monday compilation, which also includes variations of pop by Scavenger HuntLaces, Years & Years, Selena Gomez and more!

SXSW 2015: From the Performances, to the Swag and V.I.P. Services, Go Inside the Hottest Music Parties!

March 24, 2015

I can’t stress enough how much incredible music talent was at SXSW this year – but as is the case with so many festivals, the parties were just as worthy as the shows themselves.

Guests at some of these top-tier fetes (which took place in the middle of the day through the wee hours of the morning) were treated to specialty cocktails, luxury swag and beauty services. Read on to go inside some of the hottest happenings in Austin, Texas, over the weekend!

Nylon x The dFm Present Terrace at the W Austin

The Nylon party was everything you’d expect it to be: the perfect blend of music, arts and fashion. Zella Day was a highlight performer at the fete, which featured other live acts, including Holychild, Tove Styrke, Safia and darling Cody Simpson, who had pals singing along to his songs. V.I.P. guests covered themselves with removable Flash Tattoos and swooped up swag from SkullCandy, Gibson, Pax Labs, Inc. and Original Penguin.

Neon Gold Presents Neon Golden at Empire Control Room

Neon Gold‘s Neon Golden party had an insane music lineup. Featuring live performances by ASTR, The Knocks, Years & Years, MS MR, Marina & the DiamondsVerite and Cathedrals (just to name a few), this bash was off the hook! In between catching the acts, guests got beautified with the help of PRIV, a straight-to-your-door beauty service, currently available L.A., NYC and London, which launched in Sept. 2014 with a chic fete in West Hollywood. In celebration of SXSW, the company (whose app is available on your iPhone) made its services permanently available in Austin and kicked things off with manicures and hairstyling at the Neon Golden party!

GQ x Jam in the Van Sessions Presented by Stillhouse Moonshine

Any event put on by GQ is bound to be a success, and such was indeed the case when the mag partnered up with  Jam In the Van for SXSW. During the two-day shindig, guests were able to let their hair down in a relaxed environment, taking in the sounds of a slew of acts, including Plain White T’s, Surfer Blood, Cody Simpson, Zella Day, X Ambassadors and Jukebox the Ghost. They sipped on specialty cocktails by Stillhouse Moonshine whiskey and had a peek of what goes down in the world’s first solar-powered music discovery vehicle. PRIV (short for PRIVileged) was on hand yet again, for massages, his and hers manicures and man-bun styling galore!
